Wool is naturally self-cleaning, which means it generally does not need to be washed often. Simply airing it outside overnight or hanging it in a humid bathroom is often all it takes to restore its fresh scent.
If the sheepskin needs to be washed, use a wool cycle (do not use the hand wash or delicate cycle) at a maximum temperature of 30°C (86°F). Select a low spin speed, preferably no higher than 400 rpm. Use a detergent specifically designed for sheepskins and do not use fabric softener. After washing, the sheepskin can be tumble dried at a maximum of 40°C (104°F) or left to air dry. While drying, gently reshape the sheepskin at regular intervals to help it retain its original form.
